CONSCIOUS APPROACH
sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of NOIR CATCHER

We strive to consciously source our materials and ethically produce our items.

We are committed to craft all our products in the heart of Milan.

We consciously source our gold and gemstones from women artisanal miners in East Africa and our peace silk from India.

Our fine jewels are hand-crafted like a miniature sculptures by local goldsmiths in a small laboratory in the heart of Milan. We believe in pure gold, and only craft our jewelry with Fairmined Certified Ecological gold. All pieces have been certified in accordance with the Hallmarking Act 1973, and the gemstones are responsibly sourced from small-scale women miners in East Africa, certified by GIA. Our jewelry is  genuinely ecological, ethical, and traceable.

Each jewel comes with an ethical soft pouch and a wooden box coated in ecological urushi

lacquer. Handcrafted by Japanese master craftsmen, granted with Royal Warrant from the Japanese Emperor, the box will serve as a guardian of your cherished jewels, meanwhile continuing the ancientJapanese carpentry tradition, developed more than a millennium ago.

FAIRMINED GOLD

Ecological & Ethical

Our fine gold is Fairmined, coming  from certified responsible artisanal and small-scale mines in East Africa. It is ethical and fully traceable.

Fairmined mines are eco-friendly because they have to meet a number of rigorous standards for handling of toxic chemicals and also for protecting the environment. Fairmined mines ensure that there's no drinking water contamination, and that there's a positive environmental legacy for their surrounding environment.

Purchasing Fairmined gold has made a noticeable difference in the lives of miners that would otherwise be at great risk.

RESPONSIBLE GEMSTONES

Empowering Women Miners of East Africa

We consciously source our gemstones from a responsible initiative focused on the women artisanal gem miners in Kenya and Tanzania.

We aim to create more job opportunities and empower local women miners to work safely and improve their financial security and life.

As well, we strive to reveal the dynamic stories of women in mining and break the stigma of research bias. An estimated 1/3 of all artisanal and small-scale miners worldwide are women, yet the world knows little about them.

The magical land of Africa has deeply touched us and we love to go back, explore, get inspired and handpick the gems directly from the miners.

PEACE SILK

The Most Loving Way to Wear Silk

We use Ahimsa silk that is 100% organic and non-violent and is made in India under strict social and ecological standards and is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).

Peace silk breeding and harvesting allows the completion of the metamorphosis of the silkworm to the butterfly, so that no animal has to suffer or die. The silkworm breeding takes place under natural conditions. The trees where the silkworms grow are not treated with fungicides, insecticides or genetic sprays. To protect the caterpillars and leaves from other insects or birds, the entire tree is covered with a net, similar to a mosquito net. Once the silkworms have spun the cocoons, they are kept in a sheltered place until the pupae hatches out of the cocoon as a beautiful butterfly. This process can take 2 to 4 weeks. This particular method slows production, but is fundamental to our philosophy of producing silk gently.
